A CHARITY in Evesham is calling on people to be more considerate of those suffering from a mental health illness as part of a week of awareness.

Evesham and District Mental Health Support Service offers help to those in the Vale with a mental health illness and supports about 2,600 a year.

As part of mental health awareness week, from Monday, May 12 until May 16, Sally Padfield, charity co-ordinator is asking people to be more aware of those around them and even to consider popping in and seeing what they do.

She said: "It's really for people to spare a bit of thought for mental health. We have a welcome club at the charity and people are welcome along to that.

"We have definitely seen an increase in people suffering as the pace of life gets faster. There are more people needing support in the last five years and it's growing."

The charity is also holding a fashion show at Bon Marche in Evesham at 6pm on Friday, May 16, to raise some money. Tickets are on sale at Wallace House, Oat Street, where the charity is based on 01386 446580.
