10:33am Wednesday 14th May 2014 in News
CLASSIC car enthusiasts can get into top gear while enjoying a tasty treat this summer.
The Colwall Ale House Festival will be rolling out a classic car cavalcade at about 10.45am on Saturday, June 21 as it bids to showcase the very best of things found on our doorstep.
Petrolheads can watch iconic cars such as the Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite, MGB, Triumph TR2, Wolslet Hornet and the Audi UR Quattro as it makes its way from the Malvern Hills Geocentre, Walwyn Road, around the village before parking at the Ale House until 5pm.
Organiser Charlie Richards of South Hereford Garages said: “Some of the cars date back to pre-war, some are more modern and remind us of the cars we drove in our youth or would have liked to have driven and now have the chance.
"The classic car cavalcade is a great opportunity for us to get together, and also to share our passion with other classic owners, or those who perhaps don’t have the time needed to keep these vehicles on the road."
Mr Richards added: "We’re delighted to have been asked to take part and add to the plans to make it a great day out.”
The Colwall Ale House Festival is a week-long celebration of village life and local food from Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28 and the official festival sausage will use ale from the Friday Beer Company of Malvern Link after they saw off competition from Wilce's Cider of Ledbury.
Butchers D T Waller and Sons of Colwall and Ledbury will be selling the banger until the end of the festival.
The event will raise funds and awareness for St James the Great Church and the Colwall Ale House, the village community hall.
