Picturesque street bounces back with sculpture display

AN eye-catching selection of sculptures is helping a picturesque street bounce back from a difficult start to the year.

Sculpture at Greyfriars is an exhibition of contemporary art both in the grounds of Greyfriars’ House and Garden, a National Trust site, and along Friar Street, Worcester.

Work from national and international artists can be explored in the garden and shop windows in every part of the street, giving access to the hidden quarter as it aims to put itself back on the city's map following the floods in February.

Greyfriars' house and visitor services manager, Rachael Trimm, said: "This is a really exciting event for everyone here at Greyfriars as we have been able to get surrounding businesses involved on presenting these inspiring sculptures, giving the exhibition a real community feel.

"It is great to see how much the local businesses are bouncing back from the difficult start to the year and working together to create this exhibition."

All the pieces of work are for sale and an exhibition guide is available at Greyfriars.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, June 21 and Greyfriars' House and Garden is open Tuesday to Saturday from 1pm to 5pm, with last entry at 4.30pm.
