THIS year Asparagus has taken over the event calendar in the Vale with a range of new events including the AsparaWriting Festival.

Author led workshops and talks have been held over the past weeks by a range of writers.

The next event is set to take place on Sunday, June 15, when Malvern based Robert Low, the author of the Kingdom and the Oathsworn series', will be at the Pewter Room at Coughton Court from 10am until 4pm hosting a how not to write hysterical fiction workshop.

From 7pm on the same day he will be at All Saints’ Church, Evesham, as the special guest of Ripping Yarns…Apart – an evening with Robert Low.

Then crime writer Simon Brett will be running workshops and doing a very amusing talk on Friday, June 20.

He will be closing the whole festival at the Gala Finale at Evesham Library at 5.15pm the following day on Saturday, June 21, the final day that asparagus can be cut.

Mr Brett will also be awarding prizes to the winners of the AsparaWriting short story competition.
