A PAPER chain which almost linked Evesham's two bridges has helped to raise more than £2,000 for local children's charities.
The huge chain was part of a project to bridge the gap by the Evesham Rotary Club, which saw clubs, organisations, schools and businesses playing their part in creating the links.
On Saturday (June 21) the club members were joined by mayor Charlie Homer and and his mayoress Maren Fischer, people from Working World, the Prince Henry's Interact Club including teachers, members of Ourside Youth Centre, children from Simon De Montfort School and members of the public.
Steve Davies from the Rotary Club said: "A brilliant fun packed day resulted in reaching just over half way in our attempt to link up Evesham's two bridges. Not bad for the first attempt.
"We raised around £2,200 with half the money raised by the schools going back to them to support their own local charity or towards a school project.
"Other money raised will help the Rotary Club of Evesham support many local children's events including Kids-Out and a trip to the Pantomime."
