Church seeks help in search for new home
12:42pm Wednesday 25th June 2014 in News
A CHURCH is appealing for help in their search for a new home.
Hope Church, which currently meets in Nunnery Wood High School, Worcester, have made a number of failed attempts to purchase a new centre for their church community.
The church's team believes the latest setback has come in their cash bid to buy the former Royal Mail delivery office in Westbury Street, Lowesmoor, Worcester, and are calling for help to find other suitable venues.
Church leader Richard Thomas said: “In these times of cut backs to city and county council budgets, churches in Worcester are full of members eager to serve their communities.
"From toddler groups, to parenting courses, money advice, emergency food, marriage courses and community events, there is a huge range of community activities. Together we are making a vital contribution towards making Worcester a better place to live.”
Mr Thomas feels the church has become known over the last few years for being very involved serving those with needs in the city.
Pastor Jim Harper added a new building would make all the difference to their work.
Mr Harper said: “We have enquired about quite a number of properties and the search still continues. We are raring to go, but, to be more effective in serving the city, the right property would make a huge difference.
"For us church is seven days a week in the community not just an hour or so on a Sunday morning.”
Hope Church works with a number of partner organisations helping those with mental health or addiction problems with skill training, confidence building and employment and housing issues.
The church meets on Sundays from 10.15am to 12.15pm and also caters for about 50 children as well as running midweek youth and community groups.
Anyone who may be able to help the church in their search for a suitable property can call their architect, Boughton and Butler of Sansome Street, Worcester, on 01905 723544.
