RUGBY fans across the Vale will soon be able to enjoy new facilities thanks to the ambitious efforts of a local club.

Building work on Bredon Rugby Club began in May to improve the changing room facilities and extend the club’s social areas. Plans include a more spacious and stylish facility with a first-storey bar area and a balcony with pitch views.

The work is taking place thanks to the efforts of supporters, who have helped to raise funds for the renovations, as well as financial support from some of the top rugby organisations in the country, including the Rugby Football Union and Sport England.

The club are also celebrating their recent appointment by the Rugby Football Union to become a 'Lead Up and Legacy Centre' for the Rugby World Cup being held next year. This is a £10m initiative which aims to increase club rugby participation throughout the UK.

Club Chairman, Kelvin Falvey said he is thrilled to be supported by both the RFU and Sport England and that it would help the club raise its profile.

He said: "The investment will help our club to be even better equipped to welcome newcomers” as well as helping the club to “raise its profile”.

The construction work is being carried out by Gloucestershire-based Buildex Construction Limited and is scheduled for completion by the start of the rugby season this autumn.
