Here's hoping some attractive female students who are good at jumping get lots of As, what will newspaper photographers do otherwise?

Well done to all those students who've got their grades today, but when I look at the subjects most of the young people said in the various posting above that they were off to university to study I absolutely despair. Many businesses are crying out for skilled technical staff, yet not one of those students said they were heading off to study engineering, physics, chemistry or manufacturing. Those that were going to study something useful, by the look of their subjects, will end up being employed in the public sector so will be be increasing little to the UK's GDP.

Maybe I should just join many of them and go off to study psychology too so I can start to understand why subjects that give them zero career prospects seem to be a better choice to run up £40,000 of debt for than a course leading to a qualification that employers actually want and need!
