MILLIONS of pounds is to be invested into Evesham by the developers behind hundreds of new homes in the town.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey West Midlands is contributing towards investment of more than £2.7m in local community facilities as part the 502 home development off Offenham Road in Evesham.

The Orchards development is delivering high-quality homes with on-site public open space and children’s play facilities, plus a host of amenities to the community, including contributions towards funding for the local area totalling £2,777,482.

The money being pledged by Taylor Wimpey and other housebuilders includes more than £1.3m for education facilities and over £1m for public open space provision, with an additional £160,125 for public transport, £100,000 for off-site sports facilities, £50,000 for cycling facilities, £25,000 for arts and culture, £19,202 for recycling and £3,500 for highway improvements.

The Orchards will also bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative and 151 of the new homes being constructed on the overall development are designated as affordable housing, while 150 plots will feature photovoltaic panels to capture solar energy.
