FUNDING towards the refurbishment project of Offenham Village Hall has been given a boost thanks to a housing developer.

David Wilson Homes Mercia which is currently developing The Larches, close to the hall, has donated £2,000 towards the work. The hall was built in 1931 and the money will help fund a new kitchen. Other renovation is to include a new roof, sewerage, windows and doors and the wiring and dry-lining of another room to start when further money has been raised.

Pete Jennings, chair of the trustees, said: “We’re grateful to David Wilson Homes for their donation. Work is being carried out to provide a safe, warm and usable space for the community which we hope will then survive for many more years.

“The money will go towards the refurbishment of the hall and spur us on to reach our remaining fundraising targets.”

Steve Barton, senior sales manager for David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We have donated money towards the renovation of Offenham Village Hall as it has played a significant part in the history of this wonderful area of Worcestershire for many years and I’m sure our new residents at The Larches would also like to enjoy it in the future."
