THE harrowing tale of a pair of abandoned kittens in Worcestershire has ended happily.

Two 10-week-old kittens were tossed from a car window and dumped on a busy road near Welland last month but last weekend (November 15 and 16) the duo moved in with a loving and caring new owner.

The animals have been adopted by a lady in Evesham, following several weeks of being homed with the RSPCA.

Pam Booker, branch secretary of RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire, said: “They are the lucky ones because they could have died out in the cold and wet.

“It is fantastic they are alive and have found a new home, however others won’t survive.

“Every year we are finding kittens abandoned and it is totally inhumane.

“Abandoning defenceless animals like this is no better than abandoning a baby.”

Her colleague Geraldine Haynes, a volunteer at the animal charity, added: “It is a heartbreaking tale with a happy ending.

“It is disgraceful that people abandoned these animals and the kittens should not have had to go through such an awful ordeal.”

The charity worker added a lot of the problems are down to cats not being spayed or neutered, which results in unwanted breeding and kittens being discarded.

A further three kittens, who were discovered living among rubbish in a Malvern garden, are likely to move to a new home shortly.

The trio include one vulnerable kitten who lost its hind leg after, it is believed, getting tangled up in the waste.

A fourth kitten found with the group however does not have a prospective owner, while a further four kittens, who were thrown away at a refuse tip in Throckmorton, near Pershore, are also in need of a new home.

Anyone interested in owning any of these animals should visit rspca-worcester.co.uk or call the charity on 01905 841354.
