THE Abbots Morton Bell Tower Appeal has been given a £520 boost thanks to a quiz night organised by a teenager in the village.

Fourteen-year-old Imo Dykes devised all the questions in the quiz and, together with the proceeds from her first quiz last year, she has now raised a total of £1,061 for the Bell Tower Fund.

A total of £40,000 is needed for masonry repairs to the 14th century tower of the ancient Grade 1 listed St Peter's church in Abbots Morton and currently the fund now stands at £35,566.

Miss Dykes presented an impressive hamper to 'A Generation Game', the winning quiz team from Alcester and Inkberrow.

She said: "I'm really pleased to have raised so much money for our village church's Appeal. I'd like to thank everyone who came and took part. It was really good fun."

The appeal chairman, Colin Pemberton, added: "This is a tremendous achievement by Imo. It's heart warming to see someone so young helping to take care of this valuable piece of the nation's heritage."
