A SCHOOL'S double celebration has resulted in the creation of a piece of artwork that will grace the walls for many years.

Blackminster Middle School has maintained it's gold status Artsmark for another three years, the only middle school in the Evesham pyramid to do so, with pupils excelling in music, art, graphic design, drama and dance.

Blackminster’s full brass band, 25 strong ukulele and guitar group, three choirs and many percussion and woodwind ensembles take part in performances inside and outside of school throughout the year.

Dance and drama are on display in the school's annual musical theatre performance for which the Year 8 students run the technical aspects and the front of house and stage management. Students are given opportunities to work with professionals in their chosen field and this can go towards their Year 8 options in preparation for GCSE.

This year 50+ students will be taking a GCSE in Arts Award Combined Arts and hope to have as much success as the previous two years total of 35 A* - C equivalent grades.

Artwork and ceramics created by students are on show throughout the school and work from all year groups is being used by the local council as part of a new anti-litter campaign. So when the 75th anniversary of the school came along it was fitting the students produce a piece of artwork to commemorate the occasion.

The anniversary provided every child with the chance to learn the skill of quilting and each contributed to the creation of a colourful commemorative quilt that will join the rest of the artwork on display.
