PERSHORE Town Council voted to shelve a discussion on trying to carry on the disbanded market town partnership.

The organisation is no longer in place after funding for it was cancelled.

But councillor Charles Tucker said he would like the town council to encourage some continuation of the group or a similar organisation.

"I certainly feel the town has lost by not having it anymore," he said. "Should we act as the initiator to bring a successor body together, not exactly the same. Unless the town council acts as the initiator we will get nowhere with this."

Despite his feelings other councillors said they would prefer not to do anything at this time and would keep the matter under review.

Cllr Val Wood said she agreed the market town partnership had done great things but added, "I think it had run its time".
