A MAN who cares for unwanted dogs is urging people in Evesham to save their Christmas mail stamps.

Pete Chamberlain, who is a member of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue is asking people to save their stamps so that they can be turned in to money to help the charity.

Every kilo of UK stamps is worth around £8, and foreign stamps are worth more.

The centre, based in Evesham and run by around 10 volunteers, looks after 70 dogs at any one time, and over the years Mr Chamberlain has fostered around 100 dogs until they can find a permanent home.

He said: "Hundreds of greyhounds and lurchers come into the home each year, and this is unfortunately the time of year when the season of goodwill seems to have forsaken our four-legged friends.

“Donating used stamps is just one easy way of helping us to cover the enormous costs of looking after these dogs and doesn’t cost donors anything so I am urging people to put them to one side and send us their used stamps to us to raise funds.”

Send stamps and donations to Lyn Alden, Stonebridge, Cheltenham Road, Ashton Under Hill, Worcestershire WR11, 7QT with cheques made payable to Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue.
