HUNDREDS of volunteers from Relay For Life Evesham will be donning fancy dress costumes and giving up their time this weekend to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

The kind hearted volunteers from the charity will be taking part in bucket collections at Tesco in Evesham, the Evesham Countryside Centre and the town centre itself, all for World Cancer Day.

Not only will they be out in force with collection tins but they will also be selling limited edition World Cancer band.

Paul Baylis, volunteer event chair for Relay for Life, said: "Evesham Relay For Life is now in its eighth year, last year we, with your help, raised a staggering £132,470.34.

"We are now very close to hitting the half a million pounds collected in Evesham, what an amazing achievement for this small community."

Relay For Life in Evesham is now encouraging friends, family and work colleagues from all over the Vale to get together and take part in the event, on Saturday, June 27.

Teams need to have at least eight people who can take part in the 24 hour event at the De Montfort School.

As part of the fundraising the Evesham group is holding a Masquerade Ball at the Northwick Hotel on Saturday, February 14.

Tickets are £7.50 each and include a disco and Casio tables.
