A WORCESTERSHIRE tourism officer is in line for national acclaim.

Angela Tidmarsh, the tourism officer for Wychavon District Council, is one of only 10 UK tourism leading lights to be nominated for Visit England’s Tourism Superstar award. She is the driving force behind the district’s Asparagus and Plum Festivals, as well as having created the Blossom Trail. These events bring hundreds of thousands of tourists into the county each year.

The winner is the person who receives most support in a public vote and Ms Tidmarsh said: "I’m so thrilled to have been nominated and I’m really humbled by the amount of support I’ve had already. If you want to know more about why Wychavon is so special then visit the website, join us on our tour but if you can’t do that I’d be just as happy if you simply gave me your vote."

Her campaigning will see Ms Tidmarsh travelling across the county to drum up votes and will culminate with a Vote4Ange parade on Saturday, February 21 when she will take to the road on her tour lorry visiting Evesham Country Park and Webbs of Wychbold. Her retinue will include Gus the Asparagus Man, Prunella Plum, the Plum Charmer, the Asparafairy and a host of well wishers.
