AFTER spending ten minutes scraping ice off my car windscreen this morning, I expected the worst from our roads, but so far the traffic around the West Midlands is not too bad.

We’ll keep you updated on the latest travel and traffic news throughout the rush hour period this morning to help you reach your destination without a hitch.

Thank you for joining me this morning, I will be back with tomorrow's travel news from 7am, and we will also be reporting tonight's rush hour news from 5pm!

8.46am - Traffic is busy but moving both ways on the A38 Droitwich Road in Worcester at the B4482 Bilford Road.

8.41am - There's been an incident on the M42 southbound between j4 (Shirley) and J3a (M40) which closed one of the lanes and caused slow traffic.

8.30am - Apart from a few bits of minor congestion around Birmingham City Centre, there is nothing new to report!

8.07am - Queues on the M6 due to an earlier broken down vehicle (see 7.15 and 7.07) have now been dispursed.

8.03am - An incident southbound on the M5 at J7 (Worcester) has caused severe build-up, leaving one lane closed and traffic to be slow.

7.55am - Traffic is stop-start on the M42 northbound between J1 (Bromsgrove) and J3a (M40).

7.48am - A kitchen fire in Stourbridge last night has led the town's fire service to tweet a warning about not leaving items charging unattended throughout the night.

7.43am - Back to the travel and there is minor congestion and delays on the A4123 New Birmingham Road southbound in Tividale between the Tower Road junction and Birchley Island.

7.37am - I've got you bit of weather news now for the rest of the day and throughout the evening.

This morning is bright and frosty with sunshine and light winds through the day. However, cloud will increase a little later in the afternoon with maximum temperatures of about 8C.

Tonight the weather will be dry overnight but with quite a lot of cloud. Despite this, a few clear intervals and light winds may allow a patchy frost to develop. Minimum temperatures will be around 0C.

7.28am - In Bromsgrove, traffic is queuing on the A491 southbound at M5 J4 (Lydiate Ash) due to roadworks.

7.17am - Another set of roadworks in Holly Road, Blackheath, are causing congestion both ways on the A4100 Powke Lane at the Holly Road junction.

7.15am - The broken down vehicle on the M6 southbound (see 7.07) has caused heavy traffic going between J6 and J4a for the M42.

7.12am - If you are heading out of Wyre Forest to Hereford this morning, be aware of an incident on the A49 in Ashton which has partially blocked both directions near the Hundred Lane junction.

7.09am - Traffic is queuing both ways on the A4101 High Street in Pensnett at the B4179 Commonside junction due to roadworks in the area.

7.07am - On the M6, just like yesterday morning, one lane is closed southbound between J6 (Aston Expressway) and J5 (Castle Bromwich) due to a broken down vehicle.

The M6 congestion is also creating problems in Willenhall on the B4464 Wolverhampton Road West between the A462 Crescent Road junction and M6 J10 island.

Keep checking back throughout the morning for the latest updates.
