EVESHAM'S Civic Society presented a merit award to the town council in recognition of the display of photographs showing the town through the ages which are displayed in the windows around the ground floor of the town hall.

The photographic display was funded by the town council and the work to enlarge the photographs and make the presentation was carried out by Areca Design, Evesham.

It was done to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and the town through the ages.

David Way, chairman of the Vale of Evesham Civic Society, said: "The Civic Society considers this this is a great initiative by the town council, to show something of Evesham's history and some regard to the appearance of the town hall which has looked rather neglected in the more recent past."

Evesham's mayor, Charlie Homer, thanked the Civic Society and said it had been a joint effort.

He was thankful for the work done by the town clerk and by Cllr Emma Haynes who had assisted with photographs sourced from the Facebook group she had set up, Photos and Memories of days past in Evesham.
