THE future of a long-running Evesham choir is in jeopardy.

The Evesham U3A (University of the Third Age) choir is due to celebrate its 10th anniversary in September, but might not reach the landmark unless a replacement can be found for musical director Catherine Cox, who is due to retire.

The musical director is responsible for choosing the music the choir performs, leading rehearsals and conducting as well as instructing performers in how to get the best out of each piece.

The choir is made up of more than 30 members and frequently performs at a range of venues including village halls and care homes. It will also be performing at June’s Evesham Festival of Music.

Anyone who can help can call in during one of the choir practices, held at St Mary's and St Egwin's Catholic Church in High Street from 2pm until 4pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month, or call 01386 41820.
