A COMPETITION has been launched to find a perfect picture of the festive season in Wychavon – be it a white Christmas in Evesham or chestnuts roasting on an open fire in Droitwich.

Councillor Val Wood, chairman of Wychavon District Council, is inviting artists of all ages to paint their vision of Christmas and enter the council’s Christmas card competition.

She said: “This year we would like to see people’s own ideas of what the Christmas season means to them.

“It could be something from our stunning countryside, a furry creature, holly berries or family member – the choice is yours.

“Our Christmas cards are always very popular with people so we’re hoping for a good response, especially with a prize on offer.”

The competition has adult and junior categories and entrants must live in Wychavon and not be a professional artist.

Three entries from each category will be chosen and published on the council’s website and on social media. Members of the public will then be invited to vote for their favourite design from each category.

The two winning designs will be used as Wychavon District Council’s official Christmas card, with the triumphant artists receiving a certificate and £25 voucher.

All designs must be painted and no bigger than A4 in size.

To enter – by a deadline of Friday, November 6 – send JPEG scans or photos of the paintings to karen.maslen@wychavon.gov.uk including your name, age and contact details or post them to the Civic Centre in Pershore.
