BROADWAY First School parents did themselves proud as children across the school were dressed up in their favourite characters for World Book Day.

The day started with a parade around the hall, with Snow Witch, Paddington Bear, Boy in a Dress and Harry Potter being amongst the most popular characters started the day with teachers playing their part too.

Among the many costumes worn by the children the staff presented themselves as The Grand High Witch, The BFG, and characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Younger children’s staff teams dressed up as characters from Cat in the Hat and Peter Pan, ready for activities based on those books.

In the afternoon the children showcased their writing talents with our very own ‘ECO Factor’ with teams performing raps they had written and rehearsed in front of the whole school and the judging panel. Staff were impressed with the beatboxing, lyrics and quality of the performances and after much thought, Eco Girlz won the main prize.

The children were impressed too. Darcy Grant, aged seven, said: “I think it was the best World Book Day ever," while Brayden Hughes, aged seven, said: “I liked making the Neverland map.”
