VISITORS from Kenya have enjoyed an exchange at Droitwich Spa High School this year continuing the school’s strong international links.

The link with Ngobit Secondary School in Kenya, which has been in place since 2007, sees the schools collaborate on work in different curriculum areas and is a part of the British Council Connecting Classrooms programme.

In addition to the exchange programme, Droitwich Spa has sponsored a number of students over the years as all Kenyan students are obliged to pay school fees if they wish to remain in education beyond the age of 13.

Agnes Wambui Githumbi, who was sponsored, has since returned to Ngobit as a teacher.

Apart from the academic connections with Kenya, Droitwich Spa has exchange programmes with India, New Zealand and the USA.

The school is currently sponsoring two girls and two boys.

Students in year 8 will fund raise for them throughout the year and the sixth form are giving support through the school's charities week in October.
