CHARITY committee members have issued a 'call to arms' for volunteers to help with a major building project.

After opening 30-years-ago, the team at Evesham Adventure Playground hope to revamp the building by installing a mezzanine floor, recording studio, sensory rooms and more.

The charity needs to form plans for the major development, along with applying for grant funding before work can begin at the centre in Woodlands.

The management committee is now calling for people with experience in areas such as engineering, applying for funding grants, accountancy and building regulations.

Kath Jones, secretary of the committee, said: "The charity is over 30 years old, and the building is coming up to 30 years now.

"We want to look at providing more space for health visitors and other services now the children's centres have shut.

"It is a huge body of work which needs a dedicated committee.

"We need to strategise about things like applying for grants – the committee will be responsible for doing all the liaising with the council, getting the builders in, getting the quotes in and presenting them to the management committee."

Anyone who offers to help will do so on a voluntary basis, and will need to attend one meeting a month to discuss the plans.

It is thought around seven members will be needed to form the sub-committee, with volunteers already stepping forward to help.

The adventure playground provides a place for children and families to come and play for free, while also offering a space for out-of-school clubs, holiday playschemes and a popular Friday Night Junior Youth club.
