A FUNDRAISING duo were delighted to see how their money was spent.

Business partners Mary Jones and Julie Young raised £10,000 for Dogs Trust Evesham following a series of fundraising events and activities in 2016.

The pair from Offenham saw the new play equipment that homeless hounds had been given, including weaving posts, agility hoops and ramps, which have now been installed for the dogs to enjoy during playtimes.

Ms Jones said: "We are delighted to see how the money we raised has gone directly towards helping the dogs at the rehoming centre.

"The dogs love the equipment and when we were told the centre would love some extra equipment for the dogs, we were determined to raise the money.

"We have been involved with Dogs Trust Evesham as volunteers for around five years now and we see first hand the incredible work all of the staff put in to caring for the dogs.

"We just wanted to give something back to the centre, the staff and of course the dogs to ensure that their time at the centre is as enjoyable as it can be whilst they wait for their forever home.”

The play and agility equipment, made by Marmax, is installed in the outdoor exercise areas at the Wickhamford-based rehoming centre and means the dogs can have fun, as well as learn during playtime.

The equipment is made from 100% recycled materials and do not rot, corrode or splinter so it is perfect for paws, large or small.

Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham said: “We are so grateful to Mary and Julie for dedicating a lot of time towards fundraising for this equipment.

"It provides additional textures and surfaces and extra stimulation in the exercise areas to keep our dogs entertained.

"Our play areas are essential for helping dogs to develop, learn new behaviours, improve in their training and feel relaxed with their carers, so this equipment is vital in helping them to enjoy their time here."
