AN elderly man was rescued after his car was trapped in a flooded ford.
The man was described as being "up to his knees in water" when the emergency services arrived at Walcot Ford, in Walcot Lane, Pershore, yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1.48pm to Walcot Lane to reports of a car in a ford with water raising above the wheels.
"The patient was up to his knees in water.
"He didn't want treatment from us so he was discharged at the scene."
A spokeswoman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said they were alerted just before 1.45pm.
She said: "It was an elderly male and he was rescued prior to our arrival.
"He was already out of the vehicle prior to the arrival."
The fire service sent boats from Droitwich and Evesham as well as a fire engine from Pershore and a crew from Upton.
The water first responder team from Upton were also there.
Police were notified but did not attend.
