A CHARITY walk will raise money for Evesham Vale Cardiac Rehab.
The walk takes place on Sunday September 24 in the Battlefield Trail, starting at Hampton Ferry at 10.45am with registration from 10.30am.
Cardiac Rehab is the process whereby those who have suffered a heart attack or are suffering heart disease, are encouraged to reach their full potential in terms of physical and psychological health.
This is done through structured programmes of exercise, education, and advice.
Evesham Vale Cardiac Rehab was established seven years ago to serve those living in Evesham and surrounding towns and villages.
At present, there are four classes a week serving discharged patients and those further advanced in recovery.
The group have just launched a GP referral programme titled " Healthy Hearts" aimed at those identified as being 'at risk' of heart disease.
In Wychavon,18 percent of the population have a long term health issue, and 30 percent of adults are classified as inactive.
The Healthy Hearts programme is a preventative initiative therefore, aimed at keeping people out of hospital, and dying prematurely.
