UNITED Sport Karate Organisation (USKO) and St Andrew’s CE School in Hampton, have teamed up to offer an after school karate club.

St Andrew’s is the first school in Evesham and surrounding areas to offer USKO Karate Club, where children are able to become members, receive suits and take gradings for different coloured belts, enabling them to progress through the levels.

The aim of the club is to teach children karate techniques, punches, kicks, blocks, katas and punch bag work, to instil discipline and improve people’s confidence.

All this is coupled with having fun and giving children goals to work towards.

USKO is a local family run karate organisation that has been in existence for over 20 years.

Karate instructors, father and son, Ed and Luke Mountney run the club at St Andrew’s which was full within hours of being advertised.

This week, pupils have been graded for their first karate belt.

Andrea Bailey, headteacher at St Andrew’s said “We are very excited to be the first school in Evesham to give our children the opportunity to be part of the USKO.

"We are incredibly proud to see them awarded with their first belt, which they have achieved through hard work, resilience and discipline.”

If anyone is interested in a free trial karate lesson at Evesham Leisure Centre or at the Cropthorne Village Hall, contact Ed or Luke on 01386 831695.
