OVER 38,000 shoeboxes were collected and dispatched to Romania, Belarus, Ukraine and Bosnia from Teams4u.

A team of volunteers from the Teams4u Evesham warehouse have just returned from distributing shoeboxes filled with gifts collected from schools, churches and other groups in Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

Mary Jones, Angela Dix along with Paul and Alison Jeanes flew into Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania Romania last week where they went out each day helping to distribute shoeboxes.

A spokesman for the charity said: "Valentor Farm a series of old derelict communist buildings have for the past 20 years been home to a number of families with no electricity or running water

"In Poroshkovo in South Western Ukraine the conditions were quite shocking with running water non-existent and mud everywhere.

"Many of the children and even some of the adults have scratch and bite marks where rats find their way in to the run-down houses when they are asleep.

"On behalf of Teams4u thank you to everybody who has either packed or helped process shoeboxes in the Evesham warehouse and made the campaign such a success."
