STAFF at Dogs Trust Evesham are appealing for a home for a dog that has been waiting almost half his life to find a forever family – and is hoping a new family will fall in love with him in in time for his third birthday.

Monty originally found himself in the care of Dogs Trust through no fault of his own but despite interest from potential adopters, he is yet to find a forever family who can work with him to feel happy in a new home. He has now been in kennels for 412 days – almost half his life – and the team say a new home would be the best birthday present ever.

Tracey Spiers, Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, says:

“Monty is a lovely boy but he hasn’t found his special someone yet which is such a shame as in the right home, he would make a great pet.

“Monty really struggles with meeting new people but given time and patience to get to know one another, Monty will be a great companion, especially as he loves long walks and exploring in the great outdoors. He is super intelligent, too, so really enjoys pleasing his Canine Carers in exchange for tasty treats.”

The two-year-old Terrier cross has seen hundreds of his canine companions head off to their new homes but Monty is yet to find the home he’s looking for.

Tracey adds:

“Monty does need an adult-only, pet-free home as he likes his own space, but many dogs with the same requirements have found their forever home in the last year, but sadly not Monty.

“We would like him to find a new owner who can offer him a consistent routine and who are prepared to visit the centre several times prior to adoption to get to know him. For the right owner, we know it’ll be worth spending the time to get to know him as he will make such a rewarding companion.”

If you think you could offer Monty a home, call the centre on 0300 303 0292 or visit them at 89 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford, Evesham, WR11 7RT.
