Evesham held its annual VJ Parade earlier this week.
Armed forces veterans and council officials gathered outside the Almonry Museum on Monday as the town commemorated victory over Japan.
Imperial Japan surrendered in World War Two on August 15, 1945, effectively bringing an end to the war.
Recently appointed vice chairman of Wychavon District Council, cllr Emma Kearsey joined the mayor of Evesham, cllr Mark Goodge, and newly appointed town clerk, Jo Adams, for the service.
Councillor Alan Booth, chair of the Evesham branch of the British Legion, officiated over the service, which was conducted by the branches chaplain, reverend Andy Green.

Meanwhile, wreaths were laid by Lt Col Mark Jackson OBE on behalf of the Burma Star Association, Phillip-Rowne-Speed for the local branch of The Royal British Legion, Ann Evans of the Evesham Branch of the Royal Air Force Association, and Nigel Fish of the Worcester Branch of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association.
