SAFETY fears over the severe weather in Worcestershire have forced three schools to shut their doors tomorrow (Monday).

Bretforton Village School, on New Street, near Evesham, was the first to announce that because of the severe weather it would be closing its doors.

A notice on Worcestershire County Council's website reads: "For safety reasons, owing to the yellow warning for snow and freezing temperatures overnight, Bretforton Village School will be closed on Monday 12th December."

Blackminster Middle School and Pebworth First School said they will also both be closed due to depth of snow on access roads, pavements and school sites.

A spokesperson said: "We hope an early decision helps parents and carers."

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning of ice and fog which runs from 4pm today (Sunday) until 11am tomorrow (Monday).

Worcestershire has experienced a flurry of snow this morning.
