An Evesham bar has been turned into a winter wonderland thanks to thousands of lights.

The Valkyrie Bar has gone all out on decking the halls this year, with 13,000 lights adorning the live music venue inside and out.

It comes as the Market Place boozer plans to open on Christmas Day, offering a space for the community to come together.

Staff member Becki Stean said: “We have gone bigger and better this year with our Christmas lights with nearly 13,000 lights across the inside and outside of the Valkyrie, a life-size Father Christmas and 10ft Christmas tree.

“We would like to welcome anyone to pop along and admire all the hard work that has gone into making the Valkyrie so magical for Christmas.

“Also, not to forget we are opening again this year on Christmas Day between 12pm and 3pm.

“We believe everyone should have company of Christmas Day so joint owners Katrina Edwards and Steve Richford will both be at The Valkyrie to welcome anyone who would like to come along, and we will be offering free tea and coffee alongside mince pies and biscuits.”

Valkyrie Bar has also brought back its coat rail campaign.

Evesham residents are being encouraged to donate coats, hats, scarves and gloves to help those in need.

A coat rail and box has been left outside the pub, for people to leave or take items as they wish.

Becki added: “The coat rail will be accessible to anyone who requires a warm coat into the new year until the weather changes and gets warmer.

“Everyone deserves to be warm especially when the weather is so cold so if you need a coat, please feel free to pop along to The Valkyrie and pick one up from the rail.

“If you have a spare coat that you’d like to donate, please feel free to drop it in so we can add it to the rail.”
