A new nursery has opened in Evesham to tackle a growing demand.

Rainbows Day Care has officially launched at The Valley, as part of the Fundamental Movement Academy, a multi-sports and leisure facility.

It comes amid mounting pressure, with Wands Day Nursery in Droitwich closing last May and both Fort Royal Community Primary and The Vale of Evesham School having to turn away children with special needs.

Nursery director Pam Smith said: “Fundamental Movement Academy decided to open a nursery in Evesham as many parents that attend our soft play, baby classes and Gym Explorers classes asked if we could open one as many nurseries in the area were closing down and there was a demand for nursery spaces.”

Rainbow Day Care first opened today, Tuesday, January 3.

It is located on the first floor of the Fundamental Movement Academy, with a special access for early morning drop-offs.

Mrs Smith explained that Ofsted completed a pre-registration visit just before Christmas and says they were “very impressed”.

“Parents can expect a high level of stimulating and challenging activities that will encourage their child to become an independent and resilient learner all in a safe and secure setting,” she added.

The nursery, made up of two rooms, aims to celebrate the natural environment.

As such, the larger communal room features a range of foliage and wildlife which children can interact with.

There is also a hydroponics system to encourage healthy eating and to teach children about how food is grown.

Rainbow also features one and a half acres of fields at the rear of the property.

The curriculum meanwhile has been put together using the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which highlights four themes – ‘a unique child’, ‘enabling environments’, ‘positive relationships’ and ‘learning and development’.

To help keep parents in the loop, the nursery uses an online learning platform called ‘Connect’ which tracks the children’s progress as well as photos, videos and diary entries.
