SCHOOLS across the Cotswolds celebrated as they collected their A Level results.

They joined hundreds of thousands of students across the country who received their A-level results on Thursday, August 17, in a year when ministers and the exams regulator in England aimed to return to pre-pandemic grading.

At The Cotswolds School, Daniel Logue was celebrating a stellar four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics and an A  in his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which looked at the impact of different types of chemicals on MRI scanning.

He will now be going to the Imperial College London to study Chemistry.

A third of all grades at The Cotswold School were either an A* or A, with over 60% of all grades either A*, A or B.

At least 86% were awarded A*to C, with an overall pass rate of 99.8%.

Chloe Skidmore also achieved an outstanding Triple Distinction* in the Health and Social Care Extended Diploma Course and will be moving on to study Adult Nursing at Coventry University.

Head of Sixth Form, Phil White, said, “Congratulations to all of the Year 13 students on the brilliant results they have achieved today, which is a reflection of their hard work and dedication.

“Thank you to their supportive families and to all of the exceptional teachers and staff at The Cotswold School, who have worked with such care and skill, going above and beyond, often providing extra work sessions after school and during the holidays on top of the great lessons they teach day in, day out.

“Our students’ enthusiasm and commitment have been fantastic, and they can now look forward to very bright futures.”

Celebrations were also in order at Chipping Campden School, with most of their students getting their chosen place at university.

Nearly a quarter of all A-Level grades awarded to students at the school were either A* or A (23%), with over half achieving A* – B grades (51%) and over three quarters achieving A* - C grades (77%).

The school’s principal John Sanderson, said, “I am extremely proud of all our students have achieved in the context of a very challenging two years.

"So many have worked extremely hard and clearly been rewarded for their ability to adapt and maintain a sustained focus on their learning.

"I’m pleased that so many now have the qualifications and skills they need to go on to the next stage of their learning."
