A day of live music is set to take place in the centre of Evesham.

The free event is being organised by The Valkyrie and will see bands playing in the market square from 12pm on Saturday, September 2.

A raffle will be running alongside the live music, raising money for Midlands Air Ambulance.

There will also be charity bucket collections taking place on the day.

Organiser Becki Stean said: “We have 10 bands playing every hour on the hour for 40 minutes.

“All have generously agreed to play for free to help raise more money for such a great and worthy cause.

“Then we have our normal band playing inside The Valkyrie from 10pm.

“We are also running a raffle alongside the event and have been donated £2,000 worth of prizes, from a range of local and non-local businesses and customers.

“Prizes include days out, photoshoots, bed, breakfast and dinner for two at a local hotel, hampers and so much more.

“We decided to make Midlands Air Ambulance our chosen charity this time, as we believe this to be a worthy cause which could be required by any of us or those we know.”

Acts performing on the day include Evesham solo artist Jade Joanne, young Evesham band The Lizards, The Valkyrie regulars Fracture, rockers US! and punk band SAK!

Among the businesses that have donated prizes to the raffle are Bidford Body Piercing, Salford Hall Hotel, Croft Farm Water Park, Spot on Wake, Top Barn Farm Shop and Park, Bradfords Carpets and Beds, Coughton Court and Birdland.

“We have very kindly been offered a trailer for the bands to perform on from Evesham-based company R. Sinclair Ltd,” added Becki, “and Tower Studios based in Pershore have given us the use of their equipment during the event.”

Raffle tickets are now available to buy from behind the bar at The Valkyrie as well as on the day.
