A FATAL crash near Worcester has left two drivers dead as police appeal for witnesses to come forward. 

Police are appealing for witnesses after a two-car crash on the A44 near Egdon which left two men dead.

The crash between Peopleton and Berkeley Arms pub at about 12.25am on Sunday involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a Black Audi A3.

The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Audi A3 were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed or has dash-cam footage of either the collision itself or either vehicle in minutes before the collision."

We previously reported how firefighters from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue as well as West Mercia Police were on the scene.

Drivers were asked to find an alternative route during the closure.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A44, near Egdon, Worcester, at 12.32am and sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered four patients. One of whom, a man who was driving one of the cars, was found to have suffered serious injuries in the incident. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second man, also a driver, was found to be in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, he was also confirmed dead at the scene.

“A further man, and a woman, were assessed and treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital.”
