Earlier this year we offered our valued subscribers the opportunity to ask the editor anything they liked.

We were delighted to receive the following questions, which are answer below by our editor Stephanie Preece.

Q: Do you still carry free ads?  I want to sell my allotment fruit cages, but can't see how to go about it.

A: No, sorry we no longer carry free advertisements. If you would still like to talk to our advetisement team find please contact classifieds.midlands@localiq.co.uk or call 01905 748300

Q: How many people from outside of Worcester plus from inside Worcester are invited to follow your newspaper news for a given period and then be asked: Based on your reading, how does Worcester sound to you?   Would you be happy to live in Worcester?   Or do you still like living in Worcester?  I do think that lately the WN have included more positive and uplifting news which is good. It was out of balance previously.

A: Thank you! I'm delighted to hear that as I firmly believe that there are plenty of good things happening in Worcester. It's great to hear that you have noticed the change. I'm afraid we do not carry out surveys of this nature, although we are constantly asking our readers what they think of our news service. We have a readers panel, we often do pop-up stands in supermarkets and we liaise via letter, email and social media.

QCan you please make sure new news isn't mixed up with old news when reading online. It is extremely frustrating to have to reread old news to find something new not already read.   Hope this makes sense

A: The home page of our website features highlights of our news coverage. However, if you would prefer to see stories in chronological order please click on our news tab - https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/ - where articles are listed in date/time order

Q: Although I read the Worcester News every day (my late husband worked there for 40 years) I get frustrated that when I read and see photos of exciting events that have happened in Worcester, but never see any notice that they are going to happen to enable me to attend. Can't you have an up and coming events page?

A: We do have an events listing page that appears in our print edition every Thursday - or online here https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/leisure/ - however it is dependant on organisers adding their event to the list (there is no charge). Improving our What's On is certainly something we could look to improve going forward.

Q: The articles you send in the email do not include all the article in the paper edition.  Also once you did send me an email version of the paper edition is this always available

A: I'm afraid we publish far too many stories to list them all in our newsletter. We try and include the major headlines, but it will always be a selection. If you are a subscriber you can see our printed paper in full by going to our website www.worcesternews.co.uk and clicking on Digital Edition in the top right hand corner - previous editions are also available here.

Q: What is the editorial journey from submission of a story to its publication?

A: A story is picked up by our newsdesk and allocated to a reporter. The reporters are always working on several stories at once. They write their stories for our website. This is then checked by a news editor - or Audience and Content Editor as they are known now - and published.
