A group of Pershore air cadets have got their wings after taking to the skies at RAF Little Rissington.

FS Logan Kempson, Cpl Ben New and Cadets Struan Brockie and Paige Whittaker spent their weekend soaring above the Cotswolds in a Viking T1 glider with 621 & 637 Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGS).

During the Glider Induction Flights, the trainees enjoyed the region's views from the air and had the opportunity to control the un-powered flight.

Flight Lt Alexander Coombe said: "It is a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to put the theoretical training we deliver to all into action, experiencing the thrill of the winch launch and the effect of controls whilst in the air.

"We expect our cadets to have the chance to fly once a year on average, either gliding in the Viking or powered flying in the Tutor T1.

"These Air Experience Flights complement our synthetic training package delivered via our virtual reality simulators on squadron, training cadets on basic handling, navigation, formation and aerobatic flight."

Potential future cadets who are over the age of 12 and in year eight can contact oc.233@rafac.mod.gov.uk to take part.

The cadets next intake date is Monday, July 8.
