VALE police were this week hunting vandals who set fire to a Santa hat and then pushed it through the letterbox of an empty house.

The incident happened between 11am and 3.45pm on Monday (Dec 1) at a detached bungalow in Washington Road, Wickhamford.

PC David Howells said: “The lit hat caused damage to the inside area around the door but luckily went out before any more damage was caused.

“This bungalow is currently unoccupied but we would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the property.- which has a For Sale sign outside - between the times given.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Howells on 0300 333 3000.
