Eckington residents dig new allotments

GREEN fingered residents of Eckington have been celebrating the creation of some new allotments in the village.

In response to demand from local householders, the parish council has created 10 plots on the far side of the village’s recreation centre.

The plots have since all been allocated following their availability being advertised in the Parish Magazine last October, and new tenants have been busy tilling the soil, planting vegetables and getting to know their neighbours.

Eckington Parish Council would like to thank Tom Bloomfield, Andrew Binns, Alex Smith, Mike Wood, Gerald Colling and Ben Loxley for helping get the project underway.
