THE classic sound of a Caribbean summer greeted pupils at Bretforton First School on Monday when special visitors brought with them a steel band.
The steel band workshop, put together by Maju Workshop, based in London, formed part of the youngsters’ multi-cultural week in which they listened to music from around the world.
During the rest of the week the children will explore music from the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, before presenting a showcase at the end to show what they have learnt.
Headteacher, Ayse Moseley, said: “Every year we hold an Around the World week with a different theme, and previous events have included art, dance and food.
“This is an excellent way to help children to learn about different cultures and lifestyles from all around the world in a fun and exciting way.”
