JOURNAL readers are gearing up for the Children in Need appeal tomorrow.

Fund-raising events range from a Zumbathon in Evesham Town Hall to cake sales at local schools.

Zumba teacher Michele Collett has helped to organise the event and said she hoped to see about 100 people there, making it one of the largest to take place in Evesham.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 7pm to 9pm, cost £8 and can be purchased on the door or by calling Michele on 07813 084575.

Evesham accountancy firm Allchurch Bailey will show its support with a fancy dress day and sale of cakes.

The Albert Road Dental practice in Evesham is joining in the fun with a book, a cake sale and raffle, which offers people the chance to win a Pudsey Bear and £30.

Meanwhile, Cotswold children are doing their bit to raise money at the Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery in Upper Tysoe, where staff and children will pay £1 to wear pyjamas to nursery. The tots will spend the day baking cakes to sell to their parents.

Jessica Reeve-Taylor, Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery business manager, said: “Children in Need is a charity we feel strongly about and we will be pulling out all the stops to raise as much money as we can.”

Mark Taylor, deputy head at Swan Lane First School, in Evesham, said: “Our children will be coming into school on Friday dressed in spots, while on Thursday they will be making cakes and selling these to raise funds.”
