PUPILS at Abbey Park Middle School in Pershore have been helping out man’s best friend by supporting the Evesham branch of the Dogs Trust and Cat Protection League.
As part of this year’s Harvest Festival kind-hearted students brought in donations of cat and dog food for the assembly.
They delivered the donation to the Wickhamford centre and got a guided tour of the kennels where they were told on average 30 dogs a week are taken in by the Evesham Dogs Trust and the number will increase in the winter months.
Deputy Head Teacher, Nikki Sage, said: “We were amazed by amount of food that the children donated. We even had to use the school minibus to make the delivery. The staff at both centres were overwhelmed by the amount of food we brought.”
The children are now looking forward to attending school based workshops run by the Dogs Trust Education Officer next month.
