A FORKLIFT truck driver has been fined after crashing his car into another vehicle when he tried to overtake. Andrew Cox, aged 25, of Owletts End, Pinvin, pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court to crashing into the car on the A44 at Wood Norton. Colin Heald, prosecuting, said that at 6.30am on August 12 Cox was driving along the road when he attempted to overtake three vehicles including a lorry. He said Cox was involved in a “collision with a BMW coming the other direction” who was driving at 40mph from Worcester to Evesham.

Both cars were written off and the driver of the BMW suffered whiplash. Simon Dealey, defending, said that Cox had been “doing a night shift” and was on his way home. Cox was ordered to pay £100 fine, £60 costs, a £15 victim surcharge and was given nine points.
