I AM sorry that the decision by Worcestershire County Council to give £200,00 towards the cost of bringing the Asholean Museum to Broadway has caused such an unhappy response from some councillors.
It is a lot of money in the present times, especially when other services are being cut. However, it is a oneoff grant. Tourism is the third largest industry in Worcestershire and as such deserves every encouragement towards growth and job provision.
Be assured we in Broadway appreciate the help and it will be used with care and respect. A projected 10,000 visitors generated by the Ashmolean will benefit shops and businesses in the village. Gordon Russell Museum and the tourist information office are both run by volunteers, as will be the Ashmolean. We do pull our weight in Broadway and as we are part of Worcestershire, the county council can take pride in the prestigious new venture they will have helped to fruition.
DOTTIE FRIEDLI, Broadway.
