A talented student from an Evesham-based performing arts school was chosen from 200 applicants to be cast as the main character in a musical.

Josh who is a student at Stagecoach Performing Arts Evesham starred as Pugsley in The Addams Family musical at the historic Beck Theatre in Hayes.

It came as part of a two-week summer showcase with students joining forces with budding performers from across the globe.

The students had the opportunity to perform the full production of fan favourites from the show including, “Full Disclosure”, “Pulled” and “When You’re an Addams”.

Stagecoach Evesham's principal, Charmaine Brumby, said: "My team and I are so incredibly proud of our Further Stages student Josh.

“To not only be chosen out of more than 200 applicants from across the world but to also be cast as a main character is just amazing.

“Josh has found the whole experience of being in the summer showcase so rewarding and a huge accomplishment.

“Watching the show at the Beck Theatre in Hayes was so great and to see Josh treading their boards in such a professional production was such a special moment.

“Josh returns with even more passion for the performing arts and he cannot wait to start work on our autumn term show."

Some students had flown from schools from Malta, Germany and Australia to take part in the shows.

It follows a variety of performances by Stagecoach schools throughout the year, as many students missed out on performing live in 2020.

Three performances were open to the public, with a fourth available for family and friends.

They took place on August 12 and 13.
