WORCESTERSHIRE Wildlife Trust’s Valentine Volunteers event at Tiddesley Wood, Pershore, proved a big success with eight men and eight women recruited.

“The sun shone and everyone got on really well,” said spokesman Wendy Carter. “They got stuck into the work while getting to know each other a little better. The local group which runs the monthly log sales at Tiddesley Wood were very grateful for the extra pairs of hands to help bag woodchips and logs.”

Heather Parker, of Evesham, said: “I had a great day, the best Valentine’s Day I think I have ever had. It was relaxed, everyone was lovely. I certainly wouldn’t have any doubts about getting involved with Worcestershire Wildlife Trust again. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.”

Money raised from the log sales helps fund the habitat management of the Tiddesley Wood and other reserves across the county.

The final chance to buy logs before the summer will be on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21, from 10am to 1pm. Sales will resume in October.

For anyone interested in volunteering at Tiddesley Wood, there will be a taster session on Sunday, March 7.
