Firm gets go-ahead to expand
8:00am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Evesham
ONE of the Vale’s biggest employers has been given the go-ahead to expand.
Kanes Foods Ltd in Middle Littleton, near Evesham, had already started to extend the car park on land including Homestead, The Beeches and East Dene.
At a recent meeting, Wychavon District Council planning committee approved the part-retrospective application for the larger car park, which will provide an additional 133 parking spaces.
The plans were not without opposition and one local resident asked planners to consider putting a condition onto the application meaning Kanes Foods Ltd would have to install a soundproof security fence. Coun Richard Lasota said: “Kanes is like the beast you can’t stop. It is a big employer but at least 50 per cent of people that work there travel either from Evesham or Birmingham, that’s why parking is necessary.”
Coun Judy Pearce said that if the committee gave approval it would give members control over issues such as layout.
