A RECORD number of villagers enjoyed glorious sunny weather at the Cropthorne Walkabout.

The event raised more than £23,000 for the local church and organisations and included craft, charity and commercial stalls, along with many private gardens which were open to the public.

Visitors also enjoyed an interesting collection of classic cars, a magician, giant lawn games and a bouncy jungle which kept children entertained throughout the recent Bank Holiday weekend.

It was the first time in many years that the event enjoyed warm sunshine having been victim of the cold and wet British weather on numerous occasions.

Organiser Richard Mumford said: “With the fine weather, people poured in, probably a record number, and they all appeared to enjoy the day.”
